The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, featuring a mix of actors and sitting MLAs. Among the notable candidates are actor Hiranmay Chatterjee, who will contest from Ghatal against Trinamool MP Dev, and BJP's Chief Whip in the Assembly, Manoj Tigga, who has received the ticket from Alipurduar. The ticket of sitting MP John Barla has been revoked, while Soumendu Adhikari, brother of state opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari, will contest from the Kanthi constituency.
The BJP has also nominated Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh as its candidate from Asansol, who is expected to face TMC's Shatrughan Sinha. Other candidates announced include Nishith Pramanik in Cooch Behar, Khagen Murmu in Malda North, Locket Chatterjee in Hooghly, and Soumitra Khan in Bishnupur. The party has reiterated its trust in Locket Chatterjee from Hooghly, who expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the opportunity.
